Two obnoxious things about the bridge scene

First off, their yelling at each other about who was going to kill the girl was ten times louder than the girl's coughing.

Second, no way they would be firing at the girl on the tracks like that. They were all in each other's line of fire, and they would have killed each other.

Finally, not obnoxious but just a question - would there really have been a railway left in Vietnam that hadn't been bombed to sh!t? That seemed implausible to me.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Just inre: your question, we don't know how much of the railway is intact. It's possible that there were railways in use at that point in the conflict, but even if not that particular track could've been disabled at another point that we don't see.

reply

Besides that: bombed railtracks can be repaired relatively easy. The germans in WWII did it usually in 24h so...

These guys were pretty insane by that point. Obviously they weren't thinking rationally. As for the railroad, that's just a section of it. Disabling a line doesn't mean every foot of it had been torn up.

I'm watching it right now and was just thinking the same thing about her coughing and them yelling.

reply

About the coughing bit.

They weren't going to blame themselves if their noise attracted the enemy.

They wouldn't take responsibility for anything they did
