I Noticed The Length Of THE HILLSIDE STRANGLERS (1989)

I Noticed The Length Of THE HILLSIDE STRANGLER (1989) in IMDB is 120 minutes. I saw this recently on free tv. It was shown in a 120 minute (2 hour) time slot.

My questions are:

1. How was this 2 hour movie originally show on tv? Was it a 2 1/2 hour, 3 hour or 4 hour time slot. On free tv you have to allow for pesky commercials.

2. What was edited out of the movie now that it is being shoe-horned into a 2 hour time slot. With commercials it is now more likely a 90 minute edited film.

I really enjoyed Richard Crenna as the lead detective in this film.

Good news, Angelo Buono (the killing uncle) died in prison in 2002. I always thought 2002 was a good year. Now I know why.

Update:

I just found the vhs copy of the movie for sale on the internet. It may never be on DVD.

It states the length at 91 minutes. I wonder if that is the original length?

layton,

since this was made for tv the 91 minutes sounds right. IMDB gets those running times wrong on occasion. That 120 may have been a default setting or somebody simply guessed.

If it was put on tv in a 2 hours slot, but only last 91 minutes, the extra time is including the tv-commercials. I got the film and yeah, it's just 91 minutes (commercial free). I guess IMDb got the information from when it was showed in tv.
