joan hickson

The movie was on TV this bank holiday Monday. looking it up I read the first review - good grief ! Not a Joan Hickson fan ! It does take all sorts to make a world. She was the definitive Miss Marple, you can debate who comes second (as far as I am concerned it can be anyone - other than Geraldine whatshername).

I think she was brilliant.

Joan Hickson simply WAS Miss Marple...I'm sure Dame Agatha would have agreed!

We cant know, but my personal opinion is that Christie would have hated both Geraldine McEwan and Julia McKenzie in the role.

Christie wanted Hickson to play the part, and frankly think she was spot on as no one comes close to her portrayal.

Although Joan Hickson should have been too old to play Miss Marple by this stage, I think that she is the best Miss Marple. I don't care for either Geraldine McEwan or Julia McKenzie as the character. Angela Lansbury at 55 was really too young. So it's only Margaret Rutherford at no. 2 and Helen Hayes at no. 3, as the best of the rest for me.
