Night chirping

What is that excruciating creaking/chirping in the first night scene?
Why on earth did they include it?

reply

Yeah really, what the heck it that?!
It's actually in most night scenes especially around the hotel.
Anybody have any idea?
I'm guessing bird, bug or frog.

The chirping really ruined the ending for me, it was like fingernails on a chalk board. At some points it was so loud it almost drowned out the dialogue. An occasional night bird squawk would have given the idea of an exotic Caribbean night just as well and not intruded on the drama.

I must say that the wondrous Joan Hickson was brilliant, believable in the midst of a rather overdone (in my opinion) script. What an actress!

She brought Miss Marple to life for me like no other actress. All those elder British actors can act, it must be something in the water over there. They should bottle it and send it over here to some American actors who will remain nameless.

Here's to you Miss Hickson!

reply

I thought it was crickets or something along those lines.

That awful noise was from the overhead fans that they had in the outside dining area. They showed them briefly, so you could see where it was coming from. it about drove me mad too!
