I disagree... the film has powerful moments but Cruise always seems to be straining too hard. He comes across like a mediocre actor trying and failing to stretch himself.
His best performance imo is Jerry Maguire but he is also pretty good in Rain Man and Magnolia.
He is excellent in Magnolia, that's his best acting performance for me. And not just because of the seminar scene, the scenes with his father and the interview after his seminar are equally as good.
shareHe’s good in that, although I don’t personally think he was one of the more impressive of the excellent cast.
