This is Douglas trying to be Mel Gibson

With the hair, outfits, tough guy-crazy cop attitude. Except he isn't Gibson, not by a long shot. He's awful in this. Really pathetic. His "look" and approach is an obvious rip off of Gibson's far superior Riggs character. Ill-advised at best.

he reminded me of riggs alot to be honest but wasn't the two films made at the same year !!

LW in 87, this in 89!

Lethal Weapon 2 came out in 1989 also...

and he smokes like he's just so cool!

A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.

He is not bad in this movie at all.

I think the mullet and on the edge cop thing are all just tropes of 80's action movies. I think it's the character, not the acting. I agree Douglas was all wrong for the part though. He just didn't fit it. The mullet and the leather made him look like some sort of weekend warrior dad biker.

What a stupid observation for a loser

Cop films have always been popular what they're all copies of lethal weapon? You could say, lethal weapon was a copy of a French connection..etc?

And tough guy image..again how lame would it be there a cop film and the lead had a nice guy image???

The tough guy image has been around for ages

Cop films were very popular in the 70s and 80s

Stupid as hole

So Doiglas was sporting a mullet..so that's more proof it's a copy??

First off it's not even a true mullet. And that hairstyle was popular back then

Lol midget Mel Gibson fan

Go eff you self.

The OP obviously has something personal against Douglas becuz anybody that recognizes good acting can tell you that he was great in this. Just becuz you would rather see another actor in a role doesn't mean the one who got cast did a bad job.
