Their weird vocabulary. Plot hole?

They mix it up between formal words and poetic wordings. Given how stupid they are (Joan of arc is Noah's wife?) it doesn't explain why they talk the way they do.

Maybe it's a different type of intellect.

Having a decent vocabulary doesn't mean they'd be good at history.

I got the impression that their ignorance in the subject was down to them not paying attention at school more than anything. And I doubt Ted really thought that Joan Of Arc was Noah's wife. He was just being a smart-ass, because he didn't know the correct answer.

reply

Not a plot hole. It's for comedic effect, and it works brilliantly.

reply

There was no plot holes in this movie

reply

"There was no plot holes in this movie"

Says someone that doesn't even know you're not supposed to use 's' when you use a singular (was).

"There were no plot holes" or "There was no plot hole", maybe. Even that would be badly written english.

The proper way to write what I presume you want to express (but fail for some reason..), would be:

"There weren't any plot holes in this movie."

You are also lacking punctuation, so I wouldn't trust ANYTHING you say about anything. You can't write a simple thought-based simple sentence in simple english correctly, your assessments are probably not going to be trustworthy.

reply

By the way, this movie has MANY plotholes, and so much of the movie doesn't make sense, I would deduct one more point from the actual CONTENT of your surprisingly badly-written sentence for something so short and simple.

Stupid is such an 80s term. They're autistic so they can excel at certain things while being shitty at others.

"They mix it up between formal words and poetic wordings."

So which words or phrases in particular did you think belayed an above average vocabulary?

reply

Well without watching it right this moment, I remember them using the word most instead of very, like "this is most triumphant". Sounds like poetic English or archaic English.

Looking up a quote, there is the part where he says "Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.”

Afoot?

See what I mean?

reply

"this is most triumphant" - standard surferd slacker dude sentence construct
afoot? a bit unusual i guess . slightly.

One word that did stand out for me that they used , because i didnt know it at the time either , was "Heinous"
and I dont think they used it right.

reply

I never heard surfers use most.
