Did Eric Robert's represent Karate or Taekwondo?

He's seen wearing a Black Karate Gi during the board breaking early on in their training. I'm a 1st Dan and wear white for Shotokan and I know most if not all styles of Karate wear white.
I read somewhere that he had a 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo? as already discussed on this board but I'm still unsure, what style of Karate is Alex Grady trained in.
It's interesting watching Robert's move in the Tournament fight scenes as clearly it's a style that suits his athletic ability. He did seem quite limited in techniques as their is quite a range of kicks to choose from.
I thought there wasn't enough scenes to showcase his Martial Art ability or again was he just limited? if someone is a 1st degree black belt and gets the chance to demonstrate it in its full glory, surely that person would perform more combinations and, if possible, almost all blocks, kicks, punches and strikes? I'm ranting now but just very curious. Any opinions from other practicing Martial Artists?

Firstly no not all karate styles wear white some wear black gis from white belts but the style I train your allowed to wear a black gi from brown belt upwards and he doesn't do either he may have learnt a little for the movie but its obvious from both movies he can't really fight that well that's most of his moves are hand techniques because he wouldn't have the proper snap to his kicks that a black belt would
