Great soundtrack

I mean Prince’s 89 album, I still rate it as one of the best soundtracks of the 80s. It’s aged well too. His instrument based funk sound holds up well, except for Batdance but that was always a bit shit.

Can't beat Prince.

reply

Always liked it and one of my favourite princes.

reply

Me too, I think it's one of his better albums. Certainly more cohesive than most.

reply

Yea, im actually not a fan of his but he worked for this and his dedication payed off.

reply

Really? This particular vinyl was thrown at a couple of zombies in Shaun of the Dead, it was seen as so bad!

reply

Yes it was. I always thought that was unfair. Funny, but unfair.

Like I said I think people remember Batdance mainly, which was basically a mash-up of all the album tracks and it's a bit of a mess. But the album itself is really solid. The Future, Electric Chair, Partyman, Vicki Waiting are all good enough to be stand-out tracks on any of Prince's albums. I also like how the songs were written specifically for the film and reference it heavily. It's much more of an artistic statement than someone just compiling a soundtrack of favourites from their vinyl collection (I love you Quentin but I'm thinking of you here).

Strangely I dont think I know that song and enjoy most of the songs on the album. Especially when Jack performs them.

reply

I prefer the Danny Elfman stuff.
