Do any of you remember the first time you heard news of this film?

Do any of you remember the first time you heard news of this film coming out, and where did you hear it?

I remember first hearing the news about this movie coming out in an issue of comic scene magazine. I was really excited by the news, and couldn't wait for it to come out. I remember wondering what Batman was going to look like.

I had gotten cable for the 1st time in Chicago in the mid 80's and was watching CNN's "Hollywood Minute!" They started about it; bits at a time talking about the release date, the 2 soundtracks with Prince and Elfman, the premiere in England, & the contract of Jack Nicholson! I had never heard of such things before with a movie! Nicholson made out like a bandit I would guess! I questioned Keaton in the title role; esp. after I had just seen him in Beetlejuice!  

It's funny you say that about Micheal Keaton in the title role. I have some old back issues of comic scene leading up to the films release.

A lot of letters in the magazine from readers had big time doubts about Keaton in the lead role of Batman.

At the time the first image I saw of Micheal Keaton he was in full costume, and I thought he looked really cool. Also I had no idea who Micheal Keaton was at that time. So he was an unknown actor for me since I was 11 when this movie came out.

I first learned about it in the very first issue of Nintendo Power I received, the May/June issue of 1989, with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the cover. I was like, "Whoa, Batman is dressed in all black! This looks so cool!"

Man, that issue had so many cool games and things in it.

Originality needs a reboot.

I forgot all about Nintendo Power magazine until I read your post. I'm going to see if they have that issue for sale online over at the comic shop.

I forget where I heard about it, but while I was iffy on Keaton I was enthused about Nicholson.

Glad I was wrong about Keaton.
