Why does this movie have only less than 500k votes on IMDb?

The first film made $388 M.
The second part made $336 M which seems pretty successful.

But what I don't get is that the first film have over 1M votes while the sequel have only less than 500k votes, especially after the ending of the first film we assumed there would be a second movie. Does anyone find it odd?

Because it's not as iconic and because it's an old movie.
I love the entire trilogy though.

and because it's an old movie.

So is the first one.

reply

But like he said, it's also not as iconic.

reply

I'd say it's even MORE iconic, as it shows what can happen when time travel is misused.

reply

Agreed. Part II is one point better than the first

reply

No it isn’t. It’s a convoluted, inconsistent, plot hole ridden mess that relies heavily on the use of gimmicks over characters and story.

It’s a guilty pleasure at best. People let if off way too easily because of it’s direct attachment to a film considered a classic.

reply

mmmm you made it sound more delicious and even better

reply

But it isn’t as well beloved, hasn’t aged as well, or have the most memorable characters or story.

A lot of movies don't get that many votes on imdb. Terminator 2 doesn't have 1million votes. Though it does have only about 7,000 votes shy of a million
Here are some movies on imdb that don't get 1million votes.
The Terminator movies
The Rambo movies
The Die Hard movies
The Lethal Weapon movies
The Predator movies
The Alien movies
Driving Miss Daisy
Terms of Endearment
Kindergarten Cop
Eraser
Commando

There are more popular movies that don't get 1million votes but I think the list I just made goes to show that a lot of movies don't get that many.

Pretty easy one to explain. Back to the Future is a classic and far more popular among people. It's on the top 250 on IMDB which is only going to add to its votes. The sequels are inferior and not held in the same esteem next to it. That's the consensus even if you disagree with it.
