no

why not?

it was probably a set up by both of them to test marty

I wouldn't be surprised. Some higher-ups in business do some shady stuff to get people in trouble and I wouldn't doubt that Needles sucked up to Fujitsu in order to move up. I have heard of managers and bosses setting up some employees just because.

All I need is one mic...

It's been a while since I've seen the scene, but in that part doesn't future Needles give "a look" right after Marty agrees or whatever? That could be further credence to Needles was setting Marty up.

Yes, you are spot on.
Marty goes "Nobody calls me chicken, Needles! Nobody!"
He sticks his card in the scanner, Needles scans it and quickly finishes with a "Thanks, McFly. See you at the office tomorrow." And then, juuust before he logs off you see him look off camera, at someone not in frame, and crack an evil smile while raising his eyebrows.

My guess is that he felt there were two ways to get ahead, either he go through with the scam with a reluctant Marty, or he makes Marty do it and then rats him out.

Needles is a really classy guy....

Needles deserved to get his a$$ fired.

There's always the possibility Needles was working with him. Judging by how genuinely furious Marty's boss seemed to be though (haha), I think that's unlikely. So if Needles didn't get fired, I'd say he either set up Marty or he somehow managed to keep his hands clean while very much being a part of the whole deal.

You want something corny? You got it!

^This. I noticed this even when I first saw it in the theater. Good call.

When there's no more room in Hollywood remakes shall walk the earth........ I guess there is no more room now because it seems EVERYTHING is getting remade! Writers have no original thinking skills anymore.

I think their boss used needles to trap employees. Maybe he was up for promotion and he wanted to see how far he'd go
