Fantastic freakout gore film

Looks like it was made quickly on a very low budget. But that shouldn't discourage viewers who search out extreme and unusual horror movies. Though at times more than a little silly, the main idea remains compelling, held together by really terrific, and, believe it or not, sympathetic performances. In fact, some of the best, most disturbing scenes come from the fact that characters, even some of the minor ones, are allowed to develop; disarming dimension creates an overall feeling of sadness. This makes certain gore bits even more disturbing because they come out of scenes depicting a genuine sense of humanity. Check it out.

I loved this film. It's such a splendidly strange, original and startling one-of-a-kind horror black comedy stunner. The love/hate relationship between the hapless pregnant woman and the monstrous bloodthirsty baby growing inside of her is both funny and touching. The fact that none other than an uncredited Gary Oldman does the voice of the baby in the English-dubbed version only makes things that much better. Moreover, the strikingly gorgeous and voluptuous Emmanuelle Escourrou gives an incredibly wild and fearless performance as the reluctant mother of the evil lethal fetus.

I love extreme and unusual horror films, but this just didn't do it for me. I wish I could say I loved this film, or even liked it, but I found it extremely amateurish. Of course, I have the badly dubbed English version, and in addition to the dialogue being out of synch, the film feels very choppy (no pun intended). 3/10 stars from me.

To be honest - I didn't know what to make of it. I found myself really enjoying the bits where she's 'talking' to the baby inside her but as a horror film - it didn't work. I'm assuming it was supposed to be one of those tongue-in-cheek faux-horror films (in which case - it worked). I didn't see any point at all in the 'circus' start to it - given that the synopsis here seems to stress a relationship to that and the rest of the film.

Like you I found it choppy and disjointed (but at least I was watching the French version with English sub-titles - so no awfully distracting dubbing for me) but I have to say - it was one of the more enjoyable films I've watched of late. I'd give it 6/10.

The dream sequence really freaked me out. Other than that, I didn't really have a reaction to it.

I finally manged to track down this movie. Dunno, it's bit weird. By the looks, it remanded me a lot of early Peter Jackson movies (primarly, Braindead).

It wasn't all that gory as I was told, but it had few good gore sequences. It's really weird movie. It goes from art movie to gore movie in second. Interaction between Yanak and fetus was hilarious at times. She likes him one second then hates him the next.

I am bit sad that I only managed to find English dub version, but hey, at least it's Gary Oldman talking!
