Same sorta thing happened with me, except it was this (load of *beep*), a Richard Pryor standup from 1971 (he was totally stoned and we couldn't understan what the hell he was saying), and some fatass doind standup (yeaeh, he sucked too). Funny coincidence.

I love to see bad guys get what they deserve. So long as it isn't me.

Yeah, I love Sandler's movies but this one had the most retarded jokes I've ever heard in my entire life. It's on sale at Amazon.com on DVD in pefect condition for $2.00, thats how much the movie sucked. Oh yeah, This movie was made when Adam Sandler was still a little annoying fart from Mtv's Remote Control.

reply

Holy cow was it bad! Kept waiting for a joke.

Being a big Sandler fan, I saw this movie a few years ago, and thought it was the dumbest movie ever made, and that was even over 'tammy and the t-rex', which is also horrible. I bet my roommate $5 she couldn't make it through it... she kept insisting that 'josie and the pussy cats' was the worst movie ever. Which granted isn't the best movie or anything, but is award winning compared to this peice of junk. I kept telling her, you have no idea what kind of REALLY BAD movies are out there. Needless to say, after 15 minutes, she begged my to shut this movie off.

Yes, it is awful. But there is a strange feeling you get from watching such a huge star when hes a kid in such a terrible movie. I remember when i discovered this movie in 95. Billy Madison had just blown me away, and i found this film at a random video store. It was like finding the holy grail...the lost adam sandler movie!!

OBVIOUSLY,i was greatly disappointed, but it was still rewarding.

Whos idea was to even thank about puting this movie out, it should have never been made, if anyone likes this movie, something is wrong with you. You have to be one of those people who think everything is funny. Stupid movie, whose freakin IDEA WAS THIS! And can you beleive it, there selling this WASTE at Wall Mart on DVD for $5.00! THATS TOO MUCH!

Being a HUGE Adam Sandler fan when I saw this I tried to convince myself that it was good but it didn't work. This has got to be his worst movie ever.

I Wonder If That Guy Ever Whiped His Ass With the Wrong Haaaand?
Yes.

I'll definatly grant that this is possibly the stupidest film ever made, but worst ever? Nah. "This is a no-budget film... not a *low*-budget film, a *no* budger film. Like this, right here, this is an earthquake." I've seen it twice and intend to watch it again someday. Plotless, pointless, stupid, a definate waste of an hour, but still filled with classic Adam Sandler humor and enough funny parts to make me laugh, enough good lines for me to run around quoting (cheifly the "no budget" film line but also others!)... it's really not *that* bad... I would rather watch "Going Overboard" than an enormous load of other movies in exsistance!

reply

I saw it and I wouldn't say it was the worst movie ever. It was...bearable at best.

i watched Going Overboard last night with my friend, and I have to say that this is the worst peice of *beep* ever made! It's even worse than Larry Clark's Teenage Caveman! Worse than the Bloodwaters of Dr.Z!!! Worse than the old b&w movie SKYDIVERS! Overboard looks as if it were filmed in my school's communications class, with a camera from the 1970's. My friend and I were convinced it was made in the 70's...Adam looked 10 until he put his Billy madison baseball cap on backward, until then, he looked 10 years old, so we convinced this was made in the late 70's. Two of the worst things about this movie, had to have to been, the props/costumes (NEPTUNE!), and Adam's "best friend" in the movie (I hope to high HELL he was PURPOSELY TRYING TO ACT TERRIBLY!!!!). The acting was horrible, and the story was going nowhere. For a while, I didn't even think we were even going to see what happens to Dickie, until he is thrown into the ocean (where suddenly, he has a life preserver). Another thing, is the fact that you could tell that half of the movie was filmed, in a *beep* HOTEL ROOM FOR CHRISTS SAKE! Argh...writing this is even giving me a migraine. To end this thing, I must agree with you by saying THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE!

I know it's been said before... but you've got to understand when you watch this movie that it is meant to be a stupid, senseless movie to watch on a slow afternoon when you're bored and really don't want to think. It was entirely filmed on the actual boat and the reason the picture quality is so bad is because they picked up the wrong lenses for their cameras. This is (I think) Adam Sandler's first movie and he warns you in the beginning that it's a "no-budget film." It's meant to be badly acted, cheaply done, and stupid: it's not meant to be taken like Shakespeare. If you can take it as a dumb, thoughtless movie, you'll enjoy it much more. It's not a favorite movie of mine but it is very funny if you're having a brain-dead day.
