Hello,
I've heard about how the English dub renames some of the characters, etc.; for example, Getafix is named Vitamix, Vitalstatistix is named Bombastix, Cacofonix is named Franksinatrix.
Strangely enough, I've seen an English-dubbed version, on a certain video-sharing site, which has the *correct* names! Was the film dubbed into English again at some point in time?

Oh, I found out...apparently, there *are* two English dubs. One was done for the American market, but never actually released theatrically. Apparently, the English-language DVD versions (in the UK, Australia, etc.) use the inferior American dub, with the narrator and incorrect names.

I've got an older one on video with Bill Oddie and Brian Blessed doing the voices...much better than the newer one

The UK dub was released in the UK and on the Palace Video release and the Labyrinth Video version.
Then the later Mollin Video VHS used the American dub.
I've seen both of them. I've just recorded the new version, thinking it was the same dub i had seen when I was small. obviously not. The names get to me and soothsayer seemed less evil.

Yeah, I got the box set with 4 films (Asterix the Gaul, Asterix and Cleopatra, 12 Tasks and Big Fight) The Big fight is the US dub, even though the box itself uses the UK names in the synopsis.
