One Of The Worst Of All Time

This is without a doubt one of thee worst movies of all time. Nothing more you can say really.

I thought the movie was really quite funny.

"They bleed yellow stuff"
"Well at least they bleed!"

My friend and I sat down and watched this a few days ago on one of the movie channels. I thought "if i had seen this back in the 80's, i'd probably think it was a serious scifi movie!" But I just had to laugh at all of the horrible acting and cheesy effects. It sounded as though her armgun was a lightsaber and the sword thing at the end sounded like a gun shoulda been swapped.

i saw it really late one night and i couldn't keep my eyes off it due its level of *beep* i didn't see the beginning at all, but the ending made me burst out laughing with the wannabe lightsaber

Agreed. I love how they throw some chicken wire on the woman, short-circuit her and then assume that's the end of it all.

When chicken wire a big part of the plot, THAT'S a low budget movie.

Actually I think it's a brilliant gem. But perhaps if Sci-Fi is your favorite genre and you're looking for entertainment you'd be disappointed.

When I began watching this film on Fancast, I thought it was going to be a horrible made-for-TV film with Jan-Michael Vincent doing a cameo role. But it turns out to be great photography, set design, makeup, acting, and writing. The first clue that it's going to be great is the woman with the exposed breasts.

The script is totally clichéd, which is totally exaggerated by the music score, sound effects, wardrobe and low-budget special effects. (Yup. 1989. Totally. lol.)

What makes this film so brilliant I think - is that it is gritty... real acting that's not glossed-over. To me it feels like a bunch of friends got together for a couple of weeks and made a film from scratch, just for fun, albeit very successful and talented friends with good equipment.

If you are seriously into film I think watching this one makes you wanna go out and have a film-making party.

i too enjoyed this move !!plus who doesnt enjoy watching P J SOLES !! shes very easy on the eyes!!

reply

I wouldn't go so far as to call this a "brilliant gem", but I enjoyed this more than most other people on this thread.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

reply

"talented" friends? None of that talent shows on screen. The acting is awful, the writing is wretched, and the FX are cheesey. It isn't amusing enough to be in the "so bad it's good" category. Just bad.

I don't know about "top 3" worst ever but this is ATROCIOUS

1/10

When there's no more room in hell, The dead will walk the earth...

Agreed. This film stunk worse than a dead skunk.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

reply

Egad man, watched it for the first time today. Whatta stinker.

^Agreed. I gave it a 3/10.... I've probably rated at least 800 movies lower than this one!

First, the campy script is light, quick and fun. (I found this much better than Paul Garson's previous Fred Olen Ray teamup, Cyclone (1987).) It's not a bad script at all, although there's probably about 5 characters too many... but that leads right into something else I liked about it: The cast!

The cast is wonderfully loaded with likeable character actors: John Phillip Law, Jan-Michael Vincent, Ross Hagen, Hoke Howell, Fox Harris, P.J. Soles, Jay Richardson, Robert Quarry, etc. (Jan-Michael Vincent was pretty damn bad and incoherent in this, obviously clouded by drugs and booze while rasping his way through lines seemingly recorded seconds after reading them off cue cards... but I thought John Phillip Law was great!)

And finally... it's got a female body builder in the title role as a beefed up alien exterminator! You don't go into a movie like this looking for brilliant or amazing cinema. You go in to see something goofy, dumb, silly, cheesy and most importantly... FUN. And on that level, I found this to be pretty damn watchable and entertaining.

Compared to some other Fred Olen Ray movies of the time, I'd rank this about the same as Prison Ship (1986) and Evil Spawn (1987), and higher than Cyclone (1987).

A lot of strange things happen in this world. Things you don't know about in Grand Rapids.

I think Cyclone is Fred Olen Ray's best film to date man, I mean, it was incredibly entertaining and had one of the hottest ever heroines in the lead. Did I mention it was extremely entertaining. I also must say, I didn't hate Alienator either, it was terrible on a technical level but it generally had some interesting ideas (mainly the twist) even if the execution was awful. I would rank Alienator the same as Scalps, haven't seen Biohazard, Evil Spawn, or the Alien Dead so I would have to say Cyclone is his best in my opinion.
