The Turks
Have there been any complaints from Turkish people about the way they are depicted in this film?

shareWhat is there to complain? They really werent the most civilized bunch of people back in the late 18th century. So the movie is pretty accurate in this respect.
shareActually, they were pretty civilized in the 18th century. They were just as civilized as any of the major European powers. But you're right, there's not too much to complain about. The Turks did try to conquer Europe via the Balkans, they did besiege Vienna in the late 17th century. And the Sultan and his court are portrayed satirically. Only the most rabid Turkish nationalist from some backwater on the Iraqi border could take offense at the movie.
The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
Turks were like that in 18th c.
It's even an ironic depiction

hi, I'm Turkish and I've this movie with a bunch of my friends. We were just laughing at the depiction of Turks in this movie because it's soooo much exaggareted. It's impossible to claim that this picture is an accurate depiction, so we're not offended.
