Father of 'Blair Witch and Cloverfield?'

Just a thought that came to me while watching the "Cloverfield" trailer. The filming styles are remarkably similar.

Nope, Cannibal Holocaust came first.

Naw...He said the "Father"...CH would be the Mother of them...this would be the Father.

I think CLOVERFIELD is more of a bastard son.

It's a total rip-off on this movie.

Blair Witch had some original concepts and style techniques.

More like "Father of this Redacted (more like Retarded)".

yeah like the Blair Witch, when I saw this (over 10 years now) I thought it was real...I had no idea, I couldn't tell either way and I wondered for years to come (no one had heard of the movie back then and there was no imdb and the only thing you could find on the net was porn), I was really glad I saw this movie and Blair Witch in the same frame of mind...I knew nothing and really got the most out of the experience

At least the "cameraman" in Mopic can actually hold a camera steady... I'm currently trying to watch Cloverfield for the first time, and I don't know what's worse... the annoying idiots onscreen or the ridiculously shaky camcorder work!

Oh, and 84 Charlie Mopic is the oldest of these movies I can think of, and still my favourite.

Unlike all the others, I also saw it "almost" certain it wasn't real but without any info on it so there was that tiny bit of doubt, that made it more breathtaking to experience. The likes of Platoon may be great Nam movies, but 84C remains my most memorable.
