VHS version better than DVD version?

I just found this VHS set in a used book store for $3 and immediately grabbed it. This series was so good, it was far superior to the American Traffic. And, there was music on the VHS version but not on the DVD?

Fantastic series and I look forward to watching it again.

Tody,
Would you elaborate on there being no music on the DVD?
There were basically two "musics" on the track.
Tim Souster's moody and dramatic synthesizer music, and Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony, also moody and dramatic, but of course played by an orchestra.
Were they both absent?
The production would be dull indeed, without these two very apt additions.

I saw it on Region 1 DVD and it did have music.

There is a music soundtrack on the American DVD but the transfer quality of the 2001 Acorn release is only average - akin to the old VHS release before 1998. Get the British transfer, region 2, for better video quality - but you need a multiregion DVD player and a monitor or TV set capable of PAL format because color and video resolution are a lot better.
Even though this British channel 4 TV miniseries (6 parts, about 52 minutes each) is twenty years old, its basic premise applies now more than ever, particularly with all the hypocrisy that so deftly is on display - not surprisingly a lot of it was left out of the (considerably altered) American movie version.
