How violent was it?

It depends on the particular episode. Some episodes are more violent than others. Some episodes have little to no violence.

And the type of violence also varies from episode to episode: sometimes it is silly and unscary like a Roadrunner cartoon, other times it is gritty/serious/scary.

It also depends on if you are watching the censored versions or the uncensored versions.

The censored versions are very gimped.

The uncensored versions usually are not gimped, and often feature extreme violence. Although sometimes the filmmakers self-gimp the uncensored versions, to the point that no one would even bother to censor them because there is nothing in the original source that goes beyond tame.

It was more scary than violence but it did have violence and gore but not over the top violence.
