I Love The Show But...

I am a teenager who is watching it for the first time. I saw an episode on the internet and I decided to buy the DVD. I know it's for kids and all, but its simple charm appeals to me. I wanted to know if I have some sort of problem liking this show.

nothin wrong with it at all....i watched it as a kid and loved it i bought the dvd and its not as entertaining as family guy or south park as an adult but it brings me back to when i was a kid.

I love it, but I grew up with it. It was kind of charming and old-fashioned even then, with the corny live-action skits. Nobody does slapstick anymore.

reply

I also like the show because you just don't see stuff like it anymore. TV treats children like their retarded or something nowadays. Not that the Super Show isn't mature, it just doesn't treat kids like they are dumb.

reply

There is nothing wrong with it at all. I watch a ton of these old toons and I don't mind at all. It sharpens my sense of humor and influences my character (now thats a little low!). Telling other teenagers would result in many wedgies and various other forms of bullying.

reply

Hell, I'm 17 and I just started watching it (I saw a little bit of it as a kid, but not much). It's definitly not a "great show" by any means, but its enojoyable in its extreme level of camp. Dont feel bad at all about watching it, you like what you like.

It is shows like this that bring out the kid in all of us.

I'm 17 years old. I used to watch the Adventures of Super Mario 3 when I was younger, because I was just born when this came out. I recently checked the dvd out, I say I did because I'm an artest that needs some insperation when in reality I was just in the mood for the bros.
I didn't care for the rap intros a whole lot (though they are catchy and the remix it plays on the options is awesome), the live action parts for the kids and the cartoon was silly, crazy and a bit child-ish at times. Boy did I love it :D Its all fun, don't worry about the logic, just watch what the plumbers do best; work on drains, eat italian food and kick koopas butt!

Never, EVER feel stupid for liking something. And if you can't handle feeling weird, remember that you don't have to tell anybody. Trust me, I'm a teenager too, and I do it ALL the time, lol.

I have a question for those that have the dvds. How well did the shows hold up over time?

I watched that show when I was younger too! When I acted up, I was not allowed to watch it. One time I watched one of the episodes that I taped one of my video tapes one of those times and I didn't get in trouble. I used to cheat on my punishment by watching it when I was middle school. One time I didn't get caught. I just got away with it. Two times I did get caught and I had to be punished an extra day as a result. I was being punished for fighting some jerks who were being rude to me. Some of them were calling me Charlie Brown from the Peanuts gang and I don't know why they were doing it. During the first semester I kept complaining to one of my teachers about and she refused to do something about it. I got almost about every punishment that school had to offer for fighting mostly.

I'm 22 and I know some people that have watched it before like my former neighbor who used to live at the end of our street. A few of my friends at school were talking about the video games.

reply

I don't see any reason to be ashamed, we all have guilty pleasures. I for one certainly don't mind seeing/owning old shows I used to watch as I grew up (this obviously being one of them).

Add to the fact that most of the shows on tv today make me cringe....looking at you reality tv. I certainly have no problem looking back.

I grew up watching the show and I have no problem watching it now. I had such good times watching it. Every Friday my mom would come home from work and stop at 7-11 on the way home and pick me up a pack of the stickers for the Nintendo sticker album that was out around that time and I'd sit there and watch Zelda and place any of the new stickers I got in the album. After that I'd have some pizza and be off to play my NES. Ah memories.

This show rocks. I was a little kid when the show was first one but buying the DVDs (I own Vol 1 and 2) made me fall in love with the show all over again.

I'm currently on disc two of the second volume. I get real happy when I watch the DVDs. I don't know why. Everything's so lame and stupid, but when I was seven I didn't care. Maybe that's why the show brings a smile to my face all these years later.

I just turned 21 a couple of weeks ago and I've loved this show ever since I got a the video "Mario's Magic Carpet" from Christmas of 1989. I didn't buy Vol. 1, because I saw where I could watch all of those episodes on the computer, but I did buy Vol. 2 and I enjoyed watching all of them all over again. It's so nice to have all those childhood memories with you again.

21 years old here and still lovin mario!

DO THE MARIO! TAKE ONE STEP AND THEN THE NEXT, DO THE MARIO!

reply

Me too, it's so faithful to the games, well maybe not, but more than Zelda did (shudder). It's obvious that they should make another Mario cartoon (especially since we have Wario now). It should be the sort of anime/traditional animation used for the Kirby and Sonic X cartoons.

Prime's Got The Touch. July 4th.

reply

It's still much more faithful than the horrible god-awful movie from 1993. Man that movie sucked. This show actually captures the slapstick comedy feel of the games and provides the characterizations Mario and Luigi would be given in more recent games.
