Why can't they just let it end?

Because a lot of people still watch it.

Yeah, in the early ‘90s there were like over 25 millions viewers, but as of now, there are 2 millions or so... If it had 200.000 viewers, they would end it (I think).

Good for them I guess. I'm not really watching since they bowed down to PC stupidity over the voice of Apu and Dr. Hibbert.

I’m waiting for the day to hear “The Simpsons Renewed for Final Season” for many years...

They simply have no integrity. They know it's declined in quality and popularity but have pursued with it for 20 years past its best. Quantity over quality is their motto.

When it does eventually end they will have just a few million missing it, if that, when they could have had tens of millions or more missing it and remembering it as the one of the greatest TV shows of all time, had they packed it in at a more appropriate time.
