Three gays in a condo in season 14 ruined Homer imo

havent watched that show since 1995

A lot of people use season 10 as the line of demarcation between brilliant Simpsons and bad Simpsons. I enjoy them pretty much to season 15, then a few scattered for the next few years, then I stopped watching.

But I think it's much later than season 10. I thought the three gays episode was actually pretty good.

A lot agree that season 10 is the end of the golden era. Over the next several years the show was still good, but lack the consistency from the golden era. Maybe season 15 is when the show really went into the shitter

While I think it was much later, people love what they love. In any case, even if it was season 10, that's still an amazing run of excellence.

The episode where Homer becomes sanitation commissioner and for some reason violently shakes a birdcage with a bird in it. It was CRUEL. Not funny. Homer was often a fool, but he was never cruel.

Doesn't he strangle Bart all the time?

reply

Yes...he does strangle Bart constantly! So the birdcage thing doesn't really surprise me....but there are times when I find myself watching him and I think, "Wow he's an bleephole!"

A lot of youtube sure is spent exploring the death of modern pop culture.

Good video. Good breakdown. The show was hit or miss for me right through season 11. I tapped out after that. I didn't know about the creative change in showrunners. The timeframes line up. Show was absolutely solid through season 8.

I think one of the main things that ruined Simpsons was competing with Family Guy. They really started lowering the bar and trying to one up the cruelty gags.

I've seen some of the current season and I thought they were hilarious. There may have been a stretch when they weren't that funny, but I haven't been a die hard fan for a while now. I mean, I love the Simpsons but if the quality suffered for a spell that doesn't surprise me too much, but also I can't see why they couldn't regain the spark. The recent story arc with the young, hip priest was pretty good.

That episode has a few good laughs. Like Homer pouring his tea into the face of the hairdresser and fleeing.
