Renewed for season 31 + 32

Show rolls on...

I wish they could get back to the early formula. I saw a web page that describes what changed. They showed a scene from a recent episode then described how that same scene would have been in the early years. They were dead on.

Do you have a link? I'm curious

Found it! It was a section from a youtube video (I remembered it as a web page but it was a video... ) The part I'm referring to starts at 20:50:

The whole video though is interesting.

reply

Yeah! Glad it got renewed!

They need to shoot this zombie dead. Aim for the head and put it out of its misery once and for all.

reply

They must be trying to make us shoot *ourselves* in the head

reply

Time to shut this freakshow down.

reply

Let it die with dignity. This horse has been nearly dead for two decades.

never agreed more ...

This season has a few episodes just above 7.0 rating. Last season had Gone Boy (7.5) and Flanders Ladder (7.8). In the early seasons, most were above 7.0!

reply

People are just in the sheep mentality when they diss this show. The last season has several fantastic episodes

reply

Well, there might be. The Simpson was *consistently* funny every episode until the 10th season or so. Once it got to where it was no longer consistently funny, I stopped watching consistently - then I just stopped watching.

Maybe some day someone will cull the few good episodes out of the last 20 years and put those 5 to 10 shows on one "DVD".

Humor is one of the most subjective things in the world, that is why it's hard to make a comedy with universal appeal. Why would you believe someone else's judgment about which episodes are funny instead of finding out for yourself? They are not you, and they don't have your sense of humor to know what you would like.

reply

This is a specific instance.

Original fans from the days of Tracy Ullman (of which I am one) generally agree the show declined after season 10, an observation I made well before I started following chat boards.

I will occasionally watch a later episode and usually turn it off after about 10 minutes. Again, **to me**, it's not consistently funny anymore, and at times, it's painfully unfunny when it's clear it was supposed to be.

If those who agree with my assessment point out a later episode I missed and say it's funny, I'm more inclined to believe those people.

reply

Lol. Everytime someone says, there a new episodes that rivals golden era, or are "fantastic", its been utter dog shit.

reply

Its crazy to think the show, that was considered the greatest tv show ever in 1999, has been shit for the last 20 years.
