That's what they planned when Dan Castelnetta (did I spell that right?) threatened to quit a few years ago when they wouldn't give him a bigger raise than the other actors. However he came around and agreed to the salary they offered him.

I'm never that guy who calls for the end of a long running show past it's prime, but today I've become one.
I find the first 10 seasons to be pure gold, and many scattered episodes in the next 5 pretty good, but I often wondered why the new shows just don't seem funny t me. It's clear that The Simpson's has lost it's edge.
Dropping Apu by itself isn't a problem in the grand scheme of things, but the fact that they're scared of offending people today just cements the fact that they don't have a clue what made this show funny in the past.
The irreverence that made the show so lovable is gone. It's past time to pull the plug.
