The Simpsons's house is the same as the Modern Family's house?

I've been watching the marathon. Has anyone else noticed that The Simpsons's house is the same Modern Family's house?

You go in the front door and you're in a foyer, which is the same along with everything else from that point being the same, too. Straight back, you end up in the kitchen. To the left, you end up in the living room with a bay window looking out over the front lawn. Up the stairs, you are in a hallway with a balcony overlooking the foyer to the left and three bedrooms and a bathroom -- all in the exact same places. To the right, you end up in a room we never see on the show but usually looks like a dining room through the doorway even though the dining room is behind the living room and to the left of the kitchen. The only difference is in Modern Family's house has been modernized in that they've blown out the wall between the kitchen and the dining room. The two-car attached garage is even on the same side.

Do you think that's on purpose? Is Modern Family's house a tip of the hat to The Simpsons?

Actually, the Simpsons house doesn't go straight back to the kitchen from the front door. There's a closet there. You have to go either right through the living room or left through the living room and the family room (depending on the episode, the living room may not be there) to get to the kitchen.

Other than that, yeah, it sounds very similar!
