Flashback in S1Ep15

There is a flashback that Akane has to something in s1ep15, but it doesn't match with anything earlier in the season and all of the movies/OVA's were supposedly released after that episode, so what gives???

What's the flashback from???

The reason is simple. Originally, the episode that the flashback is from (the figure skating arc, season 2) was meant to air before the introduction of Shampoo (where the flashback occurs). This is the original order of the stories from the manga, and the anime was made with the same thing in mind. Akane remembering that scene, and using it to decide not to lose Ranma to Shampoo is important in the development of Ranma and Akane as a couple.

However, early in the shows run, the ratings were disappointing, and the powers that be decided to move up the already produced Shampoo introduction episodes, as she was one of the more popular characters in the manga, to try to lure more viewers. This, alas, left the plot hole of Akane flashing back to a scene that hadn't happened yet.
