End of series 1 / beginning of series 2

Why are the episodes not linked?

reply

I realise now, I think they messed up the editing on the DVDs. I later saw the one the final episode of series 1 links with (where he becomes Samantha). There as another in series 2 where he leaped back into the black guy.

reply

Yeah i noticed that too, must be the editing.

reply

I remember the mistake happening on the first run episodes. So not the DVD.

A few Season 2 episodes were filmed during Season 1, including "What Price Gloria?" They aired the leap-in as a teaser cliffhanger for the end of the first season. When it came to time to produce Season 2, they figured they needed an episode that recapped the premise for new viewers, so they made Honeymoon Express and aired that first. "What Price Gloria?" aired later in the season. I hope that clears it up!

reply

Yes, also it was going to be Sam's first leap into a woman. Any episodes like that were rather daring for network TV because they indirectly dealt with gender identity issues.

reply

There were some more since now that I've seen. A couple where he leaps into the black butler guy as well.

Are you talking about season 3 Christmas episode, A Little Miracle? He played a chubby, mustached white butler. Season 1 "The Color of Truth" where Sam leaps into Jesse Tyler but he was Miss Melny chauffeur (similar to Driving Miss Daisy). He played two black characters nicknamed Magic, one a Navy Seal the other an old pool hall player. Also, he played a young doctor in the Watts episode, Ray. A 15 year old black girl/singer.

During the ORIGINAL run of Quantum Leap on NBC if the next weeks episode was to be a re-run the leap out teaser annoyingly would be for the re run episode not the next official episode. This is why some episodes have incorrect leap out teasers, these DVD versions retain the original broadcast versions (except for the freaking MUSIC in North America!).

reply

That explains it then. You'd think they would correct it for DVDs...
