Hey, great to hear from someone else who likes this! Yeah, I guess they aren't the greatest quality, after all, what was this, a miniseries? King Caspian is the best thing about this production, I think. What about you?

Prince Caspian or King Caspian? They were played by different actors, you know.

Oh, I definitely mean King Caspian too. Prince Caspian I haven't seen much of, but he's ok. Samuel West has got the Caspian thing down pat. The perfect Narnian king, you know what I mean?
I didn't mean to imply ou were a cradle robber, but I didn't know how old you were. I mean, my impulse is to think of all internet people as thirtyish women, so I try not to do that.

What's your favourite part of Voyage?

Ohh, the dufflepuds are funny....I like the part when they get captured by the slavers, and wots-his-face buys Caspian, and stuff.
And i thought they did the Island of Darkness very well.

O, yeah, I'd forgotten about Deathwater Island. Heh heh...I noticed they...modified...one of Caspian's responses. In the movie, he says 'Have I been saying something stupid?'but in the book, he says 'Have I been making an ass of myself?' It was written way back like in the thirties or something.

I must say, he does look good in a suit of armor
Oh, Yeah. The golden armour. I liked the part on....I forget the name, but when he and the others are marching around to meet the governor of the Lone Islands. Taht was a good part.

Hmm...I went to see an RSC production of the Lion the Witch & the Wardrone and the kid who played Prince Caspian was Edmund. It was slightly odd. He's lovely now though :P

And yes, I'm another King Caspian fan :D

Haha! This is a cute thread (being mostly a convo between two people). I loved this video! I also had a crush on Caspian. First on the Prince (because, well, at the time of first viewing, I was how old??? Probably somewhere between 6 and 7) and then on the King (he was too old for me at first! haha) I need to get the dvd collection of these. I heard you could get them at Sam's Club, I'll have to go after my parents get back in town (I don't have a membership). Oh, and btw, I also am not a 30ish woman. More like an almost 20ish woman, hehe! I kinda assume that most people online are in their teens unless they write incredibly well, or give some other indication.

Glad to hear this amused you! Welcome to what has evidently become the We Love King Caspian thread.

hmmmm, I'd probably guess somewhere around my age. I'm probably wrong, of course (I never said I was accurate, hehe). But you do type in sentences- with periods, no less! So you seem like a high school graduate. And you can't be so sweetly light-hearted and be that much older, can you? I wonder... I hope I stay sweet and light-hearted....

reply

Before I say anything else, I'd like to tell you that you have made a distinctly favourable impression on me, and you seem like a very cool person (I think it was the 'hehe's that did it!).
You think I'm a high school graduate? That's really cool to hear, as I'm not actually one. But I read a lot of books, of varying genres, qualities, and publication dates. (Also, I don't do instant messaging very much, which I suspect is the main cause of much of the terrible spelling, grammar, and what-have-you that runs rampant on the Internet). Do you read too?

My hehe's are that charming??? Yay!!! I use them all the time! I do love IMing, but I drive my friends nuts, b/c I actually take the time to put in apostaphes and commas and periods. I only abbreviate a few words (like, b/c, hehe), and generally, I spell everything correctly.

Example of my typical conversation:

Them: hi! how r u
Me: Hello there! I'm doing well, what are you up to today?
Them: im havin fnu
Them: Fuuun*
Them: fen*
Them: gah! i cant spel today!
Me: That's ok, I understood you!

I read a lot! I am a voracious reader, you might say! Right now I'm on my second time through The Two Towers. I scarcely have the time anymore to read as much as I like, though. I get a weekly news-magazine that I love, but I am 3 issues behind at the moment! Fortunatly, I read quickly- faster than I talk, which is saying a lot, hehe. If I could type that fast too, I'd be amazing! My reading interests are also broad- but have certain qualifications: I won't read anything filled with profanity, or sexual content, and I won't read horrors. Aside from that, I'll try almost anything, from any publication date. It doesn't mean I like it all, but I'll try it!

You seem cool as well! (well, if you can say that, considering I'm sweltering at the moment- I want to turn on the ac!!!!!!!!!!!) I hope to talk with you more in the future!

Well thank you!

You wouldn'td happen to have heard of the band Hanson or the X-Files, would you?

"Hello, Bill."

reply

I never actually was a Hanson fan as a kid, hehe- but my friends were! I always thought they looked like girls, hehe! My brother started playing some of their music recently- he has a sound system that allows you to make a singer's voice higher or lower without increasing or decreasing the playing speed. His accomplishment with that- "I can make Hanson sound like men!" It was really cool sounding!

The X-Files are SO bizarre! Both my brothers and my uncle are very into the show, and love to show me episodes my uncle taped (We only recently started watching TV again at our house- we only set up the antenna for the Olympics for the last, oh, probably 10 years or more. Before that we still only watched PBS and Disney Channel. If we watched anything else, it was at my grandparents' house.) I've seen probably 10 episodes- and I'm now terrified of staple removers, hehe! (the episode where the staple remover turns into a snake and bites the woman) I really liked the vampire episode with Luke Wilson as the vampire sheriff. Its hilarious watching both Scully (sp?) and Moulder's take on the past events!

As a side note to X-files- my uncle found this song...sung by a gal who is obsessed with David Ducovney (okay, I know I REALLY butchered that spelling!!!) and its littered with X-files references. The best line is "I'm cute and I'm cuddly, I'm gonna kill Scully!" Its funny how you know Scully and Moulder are perfect for each other- but they don't seem to get it on the show, hehe! You can probably listen to the song online (I think its on a website with free listening...that's where he finds most of his silly music!) I'll find out the title and the singer's name for you!

reply

Huh, back when Hanson actually popular, I had never even heard of them. I was a little ten-year-old who thought any non-classical music was 'bad' music. And I would have probably thrown up at the sight of them, what with that hair and all.
You might want to tell your brother that guess what? Hanson is grown up now (one of them is married and has a son!), and do indeed sound like men (but this time with no electrical tampering needed)! Their latest album is extremely good; they write their own songs and play their own instruments and everything. You just might want to check it out. It's called 'Underneath' and is probably still on the 'new music' racks in the stores.
I know what you mean about mostly only seeing TV at grandparents' houses! At my house, we live way out in the country (dare I say the 'middle of nowhere'?) and the only time we watch actual television (and not videos) is when the Olympics come on. We have to lug the TV monitor up to the master bedroom and do a rain dance before the channel even thinks about coming in properly.
So most of hte time, we only get to see real television when we go to our grandparents' house, or whenever we stay at a hotel, and then I and my sister/best friend mostly watch all the programs we haven't seen in months and months (like one of my favourite guiltly pleasures 'That Seventies Show' the one and only Laughing Show that I find to be actually funny). Once we even stayed up until midnight to watch the X-Files marathon (boy, were we tired the next morning!).
You saw the Luke Wilson vampire episode? That's one of my favourites as well! It's called 'Bad Blood', just for the record. You are right, it is truly hilarious watching the two agents' separate takes on the events, and then when the sheriff turns out to be a vampire is the BEST.
Actually, that's second best. The real best part is when, in Scully's narrative, Mulder is half-conscious and starts singing the 'Shaft' theme, and it cuts back to Mulder's office where he indignantly denies doing any such thing.
I"m not yet afraid of staple removers (probably because I haven't seen the episode you mentioned. I'll have to find out which one that is!) but I do NOT like bees! Every chance I get I tell my mom that bees carry either smallpox or an alien virus.
Did you see the episode with the guy who can stretch himself through the tiny spaces, and leaves elongated fingerprints? That's one of my favourite ones.

David Ducovney (okay, I know I REALLY butchered that spelling!!!)
ACtually, you did quite well. THere's supposed to be an H in front of the C, but I think that's it.

How did I miss your last post for a month and a half??? I'm crazy.

Haha...yes, the rain dance....my version was sticking my leg up in the air at various angles to help with the signal. (I was on my mom's bed) I finally figured out that if I put away the ironing board everything got a lot clearer, hehe. I had to give up on my Olympic watching this year...sigh...I CANNOT figure out the new 'tivo' (its not that brand, but its that type of thing) system. So I only caught a bit of the Games, and only the stuff my bro helped me with. But on a positive note...I bought for 2 bucks a guide to the Sydney Olympics!!! My library is moving back to its original location (they built a new library, and temporarily moved to a warehouse) and are selling off lots of books from their bookshop. Now I have a guide to go with all the video tapes I made in 2000! I have a guide to the Atlanta Games, and one to oh, what is it...the '92 winter games (I bought that for .20, so I didn't care that I didn't even watch but like 2 minutes of those games, as the reception was REALLY bad) I'm actually terribly afraid of bees without any help from the X-Files, hehe. I can't stand hearing them buzz around my head, and I'll scream and run around if they do. (I think the Bore Bee in my neighbor's shed scarred me for life. Whenever I would get too close to the shed while I hung laundry to dry, it would dive bomb my head and chase me around the yard. Nobody believed me, until my bro got dive bombed too, when he was talking to me while I was doing my chore.)I also have belonephobia (spelling...)a fear of sharp pointed objects, especially needles, as my dictionary put it. It gave a word to describe my irrational fear of hypodermic needles. Any time I see one in a movie, I have to close my eyes, or else I'll go into muscle spasms (I'm so weird!!!) No, I don't think I've seen the episode with elongated fingerprints. But I'm sure since we have the tivo thing, I'll get shown a lot more episodes.

Well, I haven't exactly been getting on with any regularity, either, so you are forgiven. [magnanimously]
I completely missed the Olympics airing on television, but a friend made tapes, so the option is at least there. I like the womens' gymnastics, anything with ribbon-twirling, or jumps, especially with musical accompaniment. The mens' gymnastics I have not historically cared much for, but it has been several years, so maybe i'll find my opinion has changed (although i highly doubt it...they're all so annoyingly musclebound).
The Winter Olympics are my favourite, without a doubt. Figure-skating, and when that's not on, skiing (especially ski-jumping), sledding, all that other stuff.
My sister says the episode with the staple remover is called 'Signs and Wonders' and it's one of the episodes with woo-woo religious fanatics in it.

I love this book and movie, too, though A Horse and His Boy is my favorite. I love the more exotic setting of that one, and the plot twists. Shasta is one of my favorite characters.

I also am a fan of King Caspian, or more accurately, the actor playing him, whom I've seen in many small roles. I always say "Oh, it's that guy again!" and recall all the movies I've seen him in, but didn't look up his name until today.

I've enjoyed reading your convo with Anne... you both seem like kindred spirits to me. I like the X-Files too and the song you mentioned is by Bree Sharp and called "David Duchovny, why won't you love me?"

That was a bit OT, but oh well. :)

I'd love to see The Horse and His Boy as a movie too; the cultural nuances of the Calormenes were always interesting.

Were you a big X-Files fan? Did you have a favourite episode or season?

I am a big X-Files fan! I own the first five seasons on DVD and I wrote my own fanfiction novel based on the show. It's hard to choose one favorite episode or season, but possibly season five. I liked episodes where the show kind of poked fun at itself or characters, such as Bad Blood, which I think is the one with Luke Wilson as a sheriff - and shows Scully and Mulder's differing perspectives on what he was like.

I used to have an X-Files fan site, which was in my signature, but since I haven't had time to complete it in several years, I've taken it down.

I found your link quite interesting, but I don't wish to bring this thread even more off topic!

reply

Oh yeah, how do you beat Bad Blood! Possibly the funniest episode...well, I dunno. Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space' is pretty dern hard to beat....ditto Humbug... Oh, they're all great!
Season Five definitely was when the show started really exploring all the things it could be and do with itself.

I'm glad you liked the link; tell everyone you know about it!

Voyage was definitely my favourite when I was younger, and recently I bought the DVDs, and what do you know, it still is. However, the others aren't far behind, and they all share qualities which I like.

I loved the Voyages of the Dawn Treader, I thought the guy who played Caspian was a big improvment from the over-dramatic kid they had in PC. He was pretty cute. I'm going to watch VOTDT this afternoon, I've felt like watching it for a while now :)
