I'm pleased that my local PBS affiliate is airing Philip Marlowe, Private Eye every Friday and Saturday night. My grandfather enthused over this show back around 1983 when it originally aired on HBO, and I, ignorant about such great things, was bored stiff by it. In the years since, I've become quite the Raymond Chandler admirer. I've watched three episodes, all from 1986: "Blackmailers Don't Shoot"; "Spanish Blood"; and "Pickup On Noon Street." The last one (guest starring a young Robin Givens!) being the best thus far. Glad this show doesn't scream "1980s!!!" like I thought it would. Occasionally there are some 1980s things, but nothing to distract from the period flavor for long.

"Maybe that's why he's under a house in Elysian Park and he don't smell too good..Paisano."

Great show! It's nice to have all of the episodes available on DVD. Powers Boothe is superb.
