Mr. Bean a likeable buffoon?

I was just reading another site's description of Mr. Bean as a likeable buffoon. I'm not sure I agree with this. In a lot of ways Mr. Bean is kind of a d*ck. Granted, I still find him funny as hell but I can name several instances where he's just not a very nice person: going back to school in one episode he purposely shouts at the guy doing difficult calligraphy to make him mess up; he steals a stamp from a woman's letter after offering to drop it in the box for her; he steals the low number of a helpless person in a full body cast while trying to be seen in emergency room. These are just a few incidents but there are many more. Anyone else feel this way about him?
