I'm pretty sure it used to be on weekly. But otherwise, advertising and the TV magazine helped :)

Inferiority complex much? Jeez
What are you even blabbering about?
Here in the UK, we have these things called "adverts". They are short clips which promote a particular product.
The channel that aired Mr. Bean (ITV) would promote the upcoming show via an "advert" which they would air from around a couple of weeks before the show.
The episodes were usually shown around seasonal/public holidays (eg. Christmas, Easter, Bank Holiday etc), making it a little easier for the public to remember when a Mr. Bean show may be on.

isn't 30 minutes a bit short for a special?
shareIt wasn't like any normal TV show, you could think of it more like one-off specials that were aired around special times of year with a lot of advertising. The closest analogy I can think of are the Top Gear special episodes. Mr Bean wasn't on very often at all but when it was everyone would watch it and it was a surprise to find out how popular it was around the world. I can remember as a kid in the early 90s going to Germany and not understanding anything on television except the numerous Mr Bean episodes.
shareBritish TV is much superior to that of (for example) America which seems to have an advert after a TV show's intro and the advert breaks are much longer than ours. Then they have an advert toward the end of a programme and come back and show the last minute or 2 of the show and then it ends. Such a strange set up. Mr Bean was trailed heavily during prime time shows/tv magazines/tv listings for weeks before the airing. This obviously did the show no harm as it was a ratings smash. Not all TV series' work the same way this one does though. We do have weekly shows the same as other countries lol
