The fates of George and Olivia

In the end, was there anything that hinted that they found out Helena was behind the death of Ruth and that George was released from prison?

And what happened to Boris's daughter Olivia? Did she die from eating those marzipan shortbreads or could they save her life in the hospital? I think it was a stupid twist that Olivia ate them; a child being poisoned is always an awful thing, but the twist was represented as if it was a good thing, because Alex and Jordan's twins were saved, which I found odd...

Both fates are left up in the air. I've always hoped that Olivia's life was saved but there's no clue about that in either the book or the film.

Again, there's nothing said about this in the book, but I think its likely that once Alex and his older children realized that Helena had made the fake phone call to their house, that she very likely was also behind Ruth's death and George's imprisonment. I guess then the next step would be to hire a barrister and go to court to ask for a new trial for George.

But at least in George's case he wasn't that unhappy in prison, especially aftr he'd been sent to that prison farm. I'd like to think he did get out eventually.

in the book, Olivia was dead by the time the ambulance got there. No mention of George being released but that would be a forgone conclusion. Pieces would be tied together no doubt and Ruth's murder and the attempted murder on the twins plus the manslaughter of Olivia would come to light. However, I would have loved to have known what happened with George. He was such a dear (exploited by Helena dreadfully) a bit of a "sandwich short of a picnic" and kind of liked prison life. He was looking forward to going to the prison farm.
