Eve Matheson's accent

Catching up on this series, was wondering if anyone else noticed Eve Matheson's accent in the first two series. Seems like there's a Jewish inflection (or stereotype late 80's tv version of one) in her accent, but no other clues in her family background that she's Jewish. Am I mis-hearing?
