We don't rent pigs...

I'm reading Comanche Moon now, and Gus is talking about renting critters. A hen could be rented for 15-25 cents to a traveler that wanted a fresh eggs for a meal, or a sheep to keep the skeeter of the traveler, or a goat to eat dibris.
But they won't rent pigs because.. difficulty with the pig is that it's smarter than most human beings and has a large appetite I pick my even eat a customer if the customer is drunk and not alert or it might at least eat one of his legs that was in the mood to stack or it could eat his coat off or won't swallow the knife belt buckle his wife a given him for his birthday which would get him in trouble at home and cause a passel of bad feeling. Even if it didn't cause a lawsuit it might cause him to tell all his friends not to rent from us which could mean to say that the profits."

Sorry, I couldn't correct my pig posting grammar or spelling doing this on my cellphone. But Gus does talk about not renting pigs in this book.
