Glad to see Michael gone

I know this sounds mean but I never thought he was the right fit for the show. I think he overacts to much on the show. I always thought the perfect fit would have been
Jerry O'Connell. To me he seemed more personable that Michael. I would love to see him fill the chair now that michael is moving on. I am not surprised he is leaving though.

Female duos from Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb have found success elsewhere, so why not try it on Live? PLUS: Anderson Cooper and Neil Patrick Harris are said to be frontrunners to co-host with Kelly Ripa.

I will not watch it it NPH or AC are involved. Same reason I would not watch if Mark was the host. I already hear enough about her neighbor NPH. Another female would be nice but it would have to be the right person.

I really really want it to be Anderson Cooper!

reply

I thought it should be Anderson Cooper from the beginning. I have a hard time understanding what Michael says. He mumbles a lot on top of his lisp.

Wendy Williams is also promoting the idea of Jerry O'Connell being Kelly's new side kick. His wife Rebecca was on the WW show and she seemed in favor of it as well. I personally think that it's a great option. He's funny, unfiltered, willing to do the silly stuff and a native New Yorker.

reply

I think Jerry is the perfect fit. Jeff Probst is another good one but he would never leave Survivor.

reply

Jerry was my first thought. He would be fantastic!

What about Danny Bonaduce? I've always admired his work from afar, he seems like a natural fit besides Kelly, if he's interested of course...

A recent guest host bit by Fred Savage was awesome. He was way funnier than Michael.

I know Michael does not hate gay people, but he sure does not like ANYTHING that even hints at him being gay, doing anything gay and so on. We know you are hetero, you have breeded how many kids so far. But in today's world it's OK to do something that seems gay, I can't remember what it was but Fred Savage did something in his co-host stint that was a gay funny thing and he is straight married and has kids.

I had to get used to Kelly, when Regis had all those subs before Kelly, I thought Aisha Tyler was great and wanted her to replace Kathie Lee, but look KL has a job with Hoda and Aisha is on The Talk. I never got used to Michael. I did eventually get used to him on FOX NFL but he is a sports guy, not a talk show host.

Not Fred Savage -- he is too hyper. On his last two appearances on Live!, he was spinning like a top. Kelly has great chemistry with Anderson Cooper but it seems unlikely to me that he would compromise his time and image as a serious journalist to take a permanent gig on a morning fluff show. I really enjoy the show when he fills in for Michael, tho.

reply

Only problem with that is he lives in Seattle and works at a local radio station in Seattle KZOK. So the commute would just be awful for him.

reply

Jerry is hilarious! He's great with Kelly! He can make you laugh about anything...fingers crossed!

I stopped watching when Michael was picked...not my fav....

I agree with your assessment that Michael was never the 'right fit' for the show. Even though I bought into the chemistry that he and Kelly projected, I always felt that he overacted and came off disingenuous.
However, I disagree with you on Jerry O'Connell being a good match for Kelly. Although he's very likable, he's far too "spastic" to be her wing-man. Kelly is the very definition of spastic and therefore needs a partner who will help ground her and the program.

reply

I guess I like spastic versus what Michael brought to the table (too much sports talk) and I'm not looking forward to them possibly picking Neil because she talks about him enough on the show during host chat already...

I just find Jerry funny and quite likeable...Anderson Cooper is good too...

I could never take Michael seriously as an interviewer anyways! I actually thought he joined the show in 2013!? I guess i hadn't watched for a while & then i see him & i was super confused lol. But he didn't seem like a good fit ever to me.

reply

I can understand why you say he is spastic. But I just feel he has better on screen likability. Outside of Jerry the only other one I could think of doing this is Jeff Probst but he would never leave survivor to do this. All I ask is they stay away from athletes in the future.

Watching Dancing with the Stars this season and I'm really enjoying Wanya Morris. He's charismatic and likable and funny. I wonder if he's ever done any talk show hosting.

reply

It would be interesting to see Kelly Ripa paired with former Attack of the Show! cohost Kevin Pereira.

reply

Neil Patrick Harris would be perfect.
