How did they explain Father Prestwick being there?

I've only seen a handfull of episodes, taped off tv, a really long time ago, and one of them is The Missing Body Mystery, at the end of which Father Prestwick goes off to....I believe it was Alaska (been awhile, I might be wrong about the location). I've always wondered. How did the show bring him back?

I'm not quite sure about that one of the top of my head, but he comes first as a temp, then he has been transfered for good, which Frank and Steve aren't amazingly happy about ^_^

I don't know if you still care, but I just watched this series for the first time. Father Prestwick is introduced as "interested in spending some time observing a typical parish since he is in line for one of his own." It is then strongly inferred that he is there to take Father Dowling place. They do transfer Father Dowling halfway through, but they then send Father Prestwick at the end: hence being so happy about it.

About two to three episodes later, Prestwick is back and he is working for the bishop. They don't really explain why he is back from Alaska. The show is playing now on Hallmark movies and mysteries.
