Different areas but Ill say Sheldon. He also was a child prodigy and while Doogie was an extraordinarily smart dude, Sheldon is a freaky genius physicist.

You need social skills to be a doctor. You would have to be admited to a practice or staff. That Sheldon Cooper has any fiends at all is a total fantasy.

Sheldon Cooper is smarter in terms of sheer IQ, but Doogie has more emotional intelligence and empathy/sympathy.

There actors, it's not real! The real question is which character was written to be smarter and which actor gave the best performance.

Doogie -- mainly for the reason that I think "smart" is a mix of intellectual ability with the common sense to apply it.

If you had phrased it as most "intelligent" the answer would be different.

DOOGIE! I don't know if Doogie's IQ was ever mentioned. I mean Doogie is a MD at 16, and I think Sheldon, in one episode an exchange instructor as a teenager I think, I don't know if he had his PhD yet. Sheldon is so emotionally stunted. I remember the episode where Doogie was on a game show, and would have won the whole thing if he didn't throw the game. It appears they both excelled at school. Different fields of study of course. If I chose to have one as a friend, it would be Doogie without a doubt. Never hurts to have an MD as a friend. Sheldon is so conceited, he thinks he is the center of the universe, and no one else matters. Who needs that in a friend? I know BBT is just a show, and I love it, it's just that Sheldon is finally getting a bit on my nerves. I don't how these other guys have stayed friends with such an self absorbed jerk is beyond me. He has grown some since the beginning of the show, but he doesn't seem to want to stretch himself, just stay in his own bubble. That is not real life.

Sheldon.

Too often, Douglas let opportunities pass him by... to teach us a "lesson" at the end of the show. But didn't we just want to see him raise hell?

Doogie DID graduate from Princeton at age 10, and became licensed at 14. Like Sheldon, he has an eidetic memory. Maturity-wise and socially, Doogie is smarter by a long shot. Sheldon never grew up, and his intelligence doesn't match his age. I love Sheldon though!
