Where Did All The Discussion Topics Disappear To?

Wow, just the other day, this TV show had many pages of topic threads.

Now, I see only 6 or 7 topics total!

They all disappeared in one fell swoop? Just like that?

Geez ...

I wish I had a good answer.

I've seen this before-- boards suddenly being purged of all but a few recent posts.

I've checked out Boards "Help" and Message Board FAQ but haven't found any explanation of how the purging works. From experience, there doesn't seem to be any consistent timetable.

One thing's for sure: what gets deleted has nothing to do with the content (quality) of the threads. I realize it could be purely a space/storage issue, and might even happen automatically once the overall thread reaches a maximum limit.

It would be nice if comments from deleted threads would still be saved in the user's profile/archive, but that's a space/storage issue too, so I guess not. 😞

Thanks.

Here is a similar discussion from another IMDb Page, about the same topic.

Here:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085334/board/thread/252153106.

I had thought that I had figured out how the posts get deleted.

In this case (the Coach TV show), however, they just deleted a whole bunch, leaving only these remaining five or six topics left over.

I wonder if all the older (deleted) posts were beyond the "age limit"?

reply

It seems like IMDb applied the "four month rule".

The oldest thread kept alive on this Coach Message Board is from October 18, 2015.

So, that turned four months old on February 18, 2016 (just a few days ago).

I assume that all of the older posts -- the ones that got deleted -- were dated before October 18. And, thus, were more than four months old.

So, perhaps, IMDb does indeed follow some consistent rule.

as far as I know there is not consistent rule because I sometimes check old shows that people are not really posting in and the most resent post are like two years old. Who knows the people who delete things don't have any real rime or reason I don;t think
