NBC decided to stop showing Saturday morning cartoons around 1992 in order to show more news programming and Saved by the Bell ripoffs. I think that covers it. The network just recently brought back cartoons to the schedule.

Do you have a cite for this? I've never heard it before.

NBC axed its entire cartoon line-up in 1992, so I think Captain N was cancelled for that reason alone.

Maybe because that show was *beep*ing terrible? i grew up with nintendo and all that good stuff but this show is just a POS the only reason i watched the few episodes i did was because im a true nintendo fan and if they had done it right, such as megaman actually being blue and simon belmont not looking like an ice climber, it would have been really good

I always thought it had to do with the Super Nintendo taking off around then.

Meh, I didn't think the show was so awful (but then I was a kid; what did *I* know?).

What strikes fear in my heart is, what if it had to deal with today's violent M-rated games? Can you imagine the N-team having to fight the flesh-eating zombies of *Resident Evil*?

IT NEVER MADE IT TO THE SUPER NINTENDO ERA SO IT COULDNT OF HAD RYU AND IT WAS FOR GAMES INCLUDING 3RD PARTY GAMES MADE ON THE ENTERTAINMENTSYSTEM

NBC canceled all their cartoons, including this one. I think this show was pretty popular when it was on, so that had nothing to do with it (although the third season did suck).

Yes it did.

The SNES came out here in 1991 and was out in Japan since 1990.

Hence why the last Cartoons were about Super Mario WORLD - The Super Nintendo pack in game.

reply

it ended because it was not a good show.

Maybe the cartoon had become too expensive to make.

NBC had a pretty bad line-up of Saturday morning cartoons round that time anyways(Pro Stars,Chip & Pepper,Space Cats). Makes sense why they pulled the plug completely.

I assume their cartoon department ran out of money.

This is a complete shot in the dark but is it possible it had something to do with copyright infringement? Everyone and their mother was attempting to piggyback off Nintendo during this time, maybe the show’s producers dropped the ball in getting Nintendo fully on board (legally speaking that is).
