The song By Billy Idol ' Hot in the city' was a better opening song

In America, the song " Hot in the city" by Billy idol was used for the opening and closing credits. i think that song was better and more rock and roll.

As opposed to what else?

Yes, definately. The horrible cheesy theme song on the newer DVD release does nothing for the show, but the Billy Idol sets the episodes up much better.

I never believed opening themes mattered until now!

As much as I loved 21 Jump Street -- I could not stand the opening credit song, don't even remember the name of it just that it was cheesy 80's music.
I liked Booker's opening credit song "Hot in the City" - it fit the show's plot line.

The 21 Jump Street song was sung by Holly Robinson Peete who was on the 21 Jump Street...I too noticed that the hot in the city song was not on there..i loved that song...but not sure why they changed it..

The rights to use it probably weren't cleared. Same thing goes for the old sitcom Bosom Buddies that had the song "My Life" written by Billy Joel but instead on most syndicated reruns and on DVD they use the alternate theme song "Shake Me Loose" sung by Stephanie Mills.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.
