Hey. I'm just wondering about the part when Blackadder wants to pretend to be insane by wearing a pair of underpants up his head and putting pencils up his nose. Where does this come from? I thought it was totally random until I saw a photo of Maradona looking pretty much exactly like that, some sort of white cloth on his head, and pencil-like things up his nose. Could this be a reference to something?

I searched and searched for it to show it to my brother, but couldn't find it. It was Maradona though and during a game, it was posted on a Facebook group mocking Argentina. Will post if I find it again.

Oh my God ! I have just seen the episode for God's-know-which-time,and I wouldn't believe it ,if I wouldn't have seen the picture with my own eyes.
I doubt if it's a referrence to the show (I doubt if Maradonna have ever heard of the show),but the similarities are spooky !
I don't think Maradona was making a reference, but Blackadder probably did, and maybe it was a reference to Maradona. If this picture was taken before 1989, I think Atkinson was making fun of Maradona... Though,it doesn't seem to be taken during a game, so I don't know.
