Awful cartoon ,watch the movie instead

Sorry but I never liked this very lousy, poorly animated cartoon based off the movie. The movie was funny, this mess terrible even for small kids. Besides the really poorly drawn characters, Lydia now likes BJ ? WTF?. They just turn it all around and change things like the movie never happened. Silly on par with stick figures.

Things changed on the cartoon and if you're a Tim Burton fan you can see his style all through the animated series. I was nine years old when I saw this show in 1991 and it is part of what made me a life long Tim Burton fan. You can even see some early incarnations of Tim's later characters such as Lock, Shock and Barrel and the Mayor of Nightmare before Christmas' Halloween Town. Vincent appears in it as Prince Vince and many other Tim Burton creations.

I loved this cartoon and they were a far cry from stick figures. It was just a very surreal style. You want to see stick figures, go watch any cartoon from Toon Diseny or even the newer cartoons on Cartoon Network like Fauster's home for imaginary friends. Beetlejuice, film and cartoon, are classic.

I use to watch the show when I was a kid but I watched the 3 episodes included on the blu-ray release of the film and I simply didn't like it anymore, not even with rose tinted glasses on lol.

I love the movie so much, the show was just a bit too removed from that universe. And the animation was not very good, but I did like the character designs. I would have preferred a Beetlejuice animated sequel/film where he was terrorizing the living in other houses. And I say animated film instead of show because I don't think it would have stood up for several seasons.

I actually prefer the cartoon

Again, this all depends on what you saw first. I saw the cartoon first and loved it for it's somewhat corny puns and being a little little kid, like four, at the time, I thought the cartoon looked good enough. Then the cartoon went off the air and I missed it terribly. And CN started playing the movie every Halloween, which would cause me to come running on hearing the theme music, just to be disappointed that my favorite cartoon wasn't on. But I grew to like the movie as it was, too.

And much later, when I was 19, I rewatched the first episode. At first even I thought "this animation is kind of an eye sore now", but I decided to push myself through it to see if the series could get better in other ways to live up to my memories, and it was very worth it. But I was disappointed to find out the episodes were not on DVD. Then, only months after I had finished the series, Shout! announced an official DVD box set release and boy was I ecstatic! A lot of people argue that the youtube quality was better, but I honestly thought it looked lighter and more faded on youtube than on the DVDs.

I had also bought a copy of the movie+cartoon DVD when I was 13, around the time I officially became a Tim Burton fan. I wasn't a hardcore fan of his, however, until I turned 18 or so.

This is a crappy show made for 5 year olds. It's nothing like the classic film. Beetlejuice is a perverted sleazy foul mouth ghoul not a goofy character who's best friend is a 12 year old girl. This show had an amazing theme song and terrific opener, the rest was simply a bastardization of a brilliant film.
