I've seen the movie more than twice and loved it but wanted to see more of Betelgeuse. Is this animated series worth my attention, then? I've never seen it before as far as I can remember.

If you love the element in the movie of Betelgeuse and Lydia not liking each other, you might not like the cartoon so much. I find a lot of people didn't like it based on that alone.
I like it probably because I watched it long before I ever saw or heard of the movie. I was watching this when I was about four or five years old, and the movie when I was six or seven.
Update: I think it's a very good show, even without drawing too much on the superb film.
