Whatever happened to season 1?

The first season had Parker Stevenson and Shawn Weatherly. Whenever I find Baywatch playing "from the beginning" it always starts with season 2. What's up with that?

I'm guessing since NBC aired that season it needs to be licenced out separately and most don't go through the trouble.

Non-Pamela Anderson years, kinda like 21 Jumpstreet Season 5 non Depp years, they just skip them episodes.

Back when USA would re-run it they would air from the beginning with new intro using season 2 ons theme.

but it is possible syndication they just dont want to pay for the 1st 2 years, syndication contracts with original stars

I watch it on Cozi TV and I think they skipped season 1 which sucks because I've never seen it.

And remember Pamela Anderson did not get on the show until season 3. Erika Eleniak was a total babe and almost as easy to jerk off to as Pamela, Nicole Eggert and others. Funny how Erika and Nicole got implants for their second seasons.

Nicole Eggert joined the same season as Pamela Anderson... they were both introduced the same episode

I'd be happy to be able to watch any season of baywatch. They haven't had it on UK tv for quite a few years now so I', relying on getting the dvds online for as cheap as possible, which does'nt happen. I only have seasons 1 and 5 right now. Though I would'nt want to see the pilot on tv anytime. A 90 minute feature length just does'nt work for a programme like baywatch to me.

If you have season one that's a prize. That's the one missing from tv.

The 95-minute Baywatch Pilot movie, "Panic at Malibu Pier," contained two topless scenes. One featured Playboy Playmate Hope Marie Carlton, and the other Playboy Playmate Teri Weigel. Both were brief and tasteful, but American TV audiences were very uptight about nudity back then. So the pilot was never released on DVD in North America, at least not the full-length, uncut pilot. And since the pilot was generally part of the Season One boxed set, few Americans have seen Season One on DVD either. Remember, Baywatch was originally a German series, David Hasselhoff was a much bigger star in Germany than in America, and the DVDs were released in Germany first.

All this contributed to my decision to buy a region-free DVD player, and to collect all eleven German boxed sets of Baywatch. Of course, like most Americans, I only speak English. Europeans and others understand that, and accommodate.

The ownership was slightly different in season 1. Hasselhoff and his producers shared ownership with GTG (Grant Tinker/Garnett) productions, which was dissolved after the show was cancelled. When Hasselhoff and his team wanted to revive the show in syndication, Grant Tinker sold them the rights for $1. But GTG's corporate successor retained co-ownership of the first season. Whenever it is shown, they have to get a cut of the royalties, which complicates syndication. It's easier for Fremantle, the current distributor, to just start from season 2.
