Contestants who owned the Gladiators?

Who are some contestants that were too much for the Gladiators?

I remember Billy Wirth being one (he has some clips on Youtube), as well as a Mark Kibort.
But I can't remember any other names.

There was one with a strong, black military dude who charged over a bunch of Gladiators.... but I can't remember his name either.

Craig Williams from season 1.

Wesley "Two Scoops" Berry from season 5.

Kyler Storm from season 6.

reply

Great memory!

Can you recall some of the things they did and on what event the were most dominant?

reply

Craig Williams was one of the bigger contenders and he absolutely smoked Nitro in Powerball and Gemini in Breakthrough and Conquer. He was also unstoppable at Human Cannonball.

Two Scoops and Storm were just insanely athletic, and Storm is best known for his flip over Turbo in Breakthrough.

reply

You can see the flip on youtube. Thanks for remembering this stuff.
I hope I can find some clips of Craig Williams.

reply

wow....i haven't seen this show since it originally aired, but i instantly remembered "two scoops" when i read your post.

Turbo punches Kyler Storm in the head after he cheats in Swingshot during Battle of the Best.

Good? Bad? I'm the guy with the gun.

reply

i don't remember him (billy wirth) really owning anyone, but i know he was probably the most annoying contestant i've seen on the recent espn classic repeats.

reply

You're right. I watched some episodes with Billy Wirth - and aside from slamming a ball on Turbo's (I think it was Turbo) head he didn't really dominate like some of the other guys that were mentioned.

reply

he had an incredibly time on the eliminator, I believe under 20 seconds.

does anyone know when season 2 of the american gladiators starts.

reply

Craig Williams was pretty much a Gladiator himself. I just saw an episode recently where Gemini tried to take him down in the Breakthrough event and Williams almost carried him back to the Conquer circle 30 feet away.

Only thing I remember Billy Wirth owning at was the "Johnny Depp Wanna-be And Act Like A Douchebag" event.

reply

KMA,
I saw that clip. Williams just dragged Gemini along.... what a monster.

reply

Even though I will admit that Billy hitting Gemini in the head was a bit (well, very) childish, I actually thought he did pretty good.

Make a little money.

It wasn't Turbo; it couldn't have been Turbo. Turbo appeared for the first time in season 2. Billy Wirth was a season 1 competitor. It had to have been either Nitro, Malibu, or Gemini.

Cheryl Wilson couldnt be touched in certain events. She was the fastest person I ever played basketball against, male or female. I played football at LSU, she ran track. That event when she had to get by the gladiators and put the ball in the cylinder, she couldnt be touched

reply

It was actually Gemini. Billy Wirth slammed the ball into the back of Gemini's head after Gemini tackled him in Powerball. Gemini was PISSED! He got up and tackled Billy and they actually fought! Not really that smart on Billy's part, to decide to fight the biggest Gladiator on the show for three straight seasons.

And KeyWestMusic, the game was Powerball. Cheryl Wilson scored 29 points in that game. That was all time American Gladiators record, no one has touched that record ever since.

Always an active duty Jr. American Gladiator!

Yes, Powerball. Thank you Notorious

it was for 1 show only. but there was a contender named d'onna toyebo(not sure about spelling). scored 61 points in 1 show. her scoring went as follows

powerball - 6 points
tug of war(beat zap - 10),assault(beat siren - 10)pyramid(beat siren again - 10)
whiplash(beat jazz - 10),wall(forgot who she beat - 10),and pulled sky out of the conquer ring for 5 points(skys only appearance of the show that day and she was MAD afterwards).

d'onna toyebo's opponent was tarita clay. she scored 1 POINT for the whole show(assault). thats a 30 second head start. by the time she started versaclimber, d'onna was at the rope ladder.

nitro didn't really get owned by Craig Williams, he got hit in the head by his shoulder and Nitro almost got knocked unconscious. It was a serious thing. Nitro talked about it in one of the older seasons. It was a serious blow to the head, he got hit in the temple.

reply

I don't know which season she was from, but Doreen Cumberbatch made every event look so easy. She was really soft-spoken too, so you didn't expect her to be so tough. Also, there was a rodeo cowboy (can't remember his name). He had a really strong upper body, so was good at hang tough and he set a record on the wall I believe of 22 seconds. Pretty awesome.

reply

Both of those were season 2...Craig Branham was his name and he later starred on a Gladiator knock off called Wild West Showdown.

BTW, here is another contender that literally owned the glads...the contender from Holland...it took all three glads to take him down in Powerball...

D'Onna was bad ass, but she lost in the finals to Peggy Odita, who had won (I think) the year before in International Gladiators, then won AGAIN in some Battle of the Champions. I just knew they were going to make her a Gladiator or something!
