Fulci my ass

It's a shameful insult to attach Fulci's name to this piece of garbage. I've watched this "film" several times and have read up on it extensively from film historians of the genre. The claim that Fulci worked on it for a majority of the shooting schedule is a flat out lie. In fact, I dare anyone to point to one single scene in this hunk of sh!t that has a single Fulci fingerprint.

This is Mattei all the way. It reeks of his talentless eye. Even at his worst, Fulci knew how to shoot and compose scenes with style, and there isn't a damn thing here that reflects his talent.

Lucio Fulci in the credits is an insult to him and his legions of fans.

I get what you're saying, but by this point in his career his best days were behind him and he was in poor health at the time.

Starting with really Aenigma a good portion of Fulci's films were nothing like those he did in the 70s and early 80s

It did remind a lot of Mattei's "Night of the Zombies" and nothing of any Fulci film. But I happen to be a fan of both even though Fulci was much better at projecting a creep surrealistic atmosphere and Mattei was good at giving us cheesy splatter films in which people ran through jungles and forests often. :-) No shortage of greenery in his films, including this one!

5 years later to reply to your comment, JessePomeroy, but I completely agree! I've read many times about Fulci directing "60 or 70 percent" and I seriously doubt he directed more than 10%! None of the style from "The Beyond" or "Zombi 2" (whatever's it's called, the one with Tisa Farrow) are present. Really amateur stuff. It's more in line with that dreadful "Rats: Nights of Terror" that Mattei and Fargasso directed. Same exact quality. I just bought the 88 Films blu ray and haven't heard the commentary yet. Maybe they know the exact scenes Fulci allegedly directed.

you must just be a casual Fulci fan,
probably only have seen his late 70s/early 80s output,
put a sock in it, tourist

I’ve also heard Claudio Fragasso had a hand in this as well.

It's one of those really troubled shoots.

From what I've read Fulci was the director and did direct a good chunk but he then left the project and two different directors finished it. Mattei (one of other two directors who worked on it) claims he directed 40% of the film, which leaves Fulci with 60-ish...however Fragasso claims to have directed some scenes that Mattei didn't direct but that he allowed Mattei take credit for. Did Mattei take these scenes into consideration when guesstimating his 40% figure???? It's likely only half this film was shot by Fulci.

The circumstances here remind me of Piranha II which is directed by James Cameron but he took over the project after the first director was fired/quit and then there are rumours that the producer took over from Cameron. How much of that film was James Camerons is a mystery.
