shareIt wasn't his mother at all, the poster is just pulling your leg. Charlie wanted to just have the company of a prostitute who he had paid for the services of before " though she dosen't remember him ". He just wanted to hold her before he thought he was going to hang & die, no sex involved.

shareEh no it was his Mother. The explanation was left out of the movie for whatever reason but it's quite clear in the script that it is his Mother, it was filmed with Casey playing it as if it was his Mother. He tracked her down. Casey also states all this in the DVD com.

Well, I dont know about any mother scene left out that was originlly in the script, as I have not read it. But it's quite clear in the thatrical release that most of us have seen that it's not his mother. As I said in my above post, he simply want's to see a prostitute that he has paid for the services of in the past. She makes it clear to him that she never remembers any of her younger customers. He holds her only because he think's he is about to hang and die, sex is not what Charlie wants, just a reasurring hug and cuddle.
There is nothing in that scene to make us think that she is Charlie's mother.
And as I said Casey filmed this scene as if it was Charlie's Mother. Yes, it can come across as that isn't the fact, perhaps because the fim-makers decided afterwards that people wouldn't like or get it but it was played by the actor that way when it was filmed and in the DVD com he states this quite clearly. The comment she makes about 'not remembering' was actually a ref to his Mother not knowing he is her son.
I'm giving the OP a full answer as to how it was originally meant and obviously not everyone thinks the same way as you that there was no more in it, as before I even knew this fact I thought there was more to this scene than just a paying for a woman and the thought had crossed my mind that it was Charlie's Mother, the OP also thought this could be true and a few other people I've talked to after reading the script also thought the scene made more sense with the Mother element.

Dont get me wrong. I can understand that scene making sense if the prostitute is meant to be Charlie's mother. It's just without anything in that scene giving us at least 1 clue that the whore is Charlies mother how are the audience meant to know ?
A little pointer in the direction of the story would of made what you say about Charlie visting his prostitute mother totally believable is all I am saying dude.
And as I clearly said many people believed there was more to Charlie and this woman, i.e a family connection, something more than just visiting and paying for a woman so for you to say that the 'audience' in general will see nothing more in this scene is quite frankly narrow minded. You didn't see anything more and that's fine, but don't think everyone has your mind set, others saw more to it without having the script or Casey's comments.

Firstly, your reply is quite silly, sorry but it is.
Charlie NEVER knew her as a mother, he never had that connection, it was his first meeting with her.
He does not ONCE touch her breasts, he puts his head to her chest, as a child might to an adult, she is a whore and therefore wearing her clothing of the trade, this is why her breasts are on display.
He's not going to ask her to cover up as it would be a very odd thing to ask, he doesn't want her to know who he is since she doesn't remember him.
The fact you see this act as him giving her 'tits' a cuddle is narrow minded and quite frankly daft, the scene is in no way sexual, not even when people don't know the connection of kin.
If he wanted something sexual, he'd have had sex 'it all costs the same.'

If you actually bothered to read my posts you'd see I state quite clearly that it WASN'T put into the film because it wasn't deemed to be needed. I agree it wasn't.
I don't care how anyone sees this scene, you are free to see it upside down and left to right but just be open about what others think and don't dismiss what's being said just because YOU don't see it, was my point, and I believe that is a very fair point.

I believe it was his mother. When I first saw it I just thought it odd that he wanted to hold her and thought she was an old flame. But watching it decades later I started thinking I hadn't paid enough attention, that it seemed possible that it might be his mother. So I came to the forums, and my suspicions are confirmed by someone who has looked into it more than I have. She's old enough to be his mom, they're filmed in a way that makes them look similar. She's his mom.
