Wow, has like no one ever heard of this movie... Why is no one talking about it?

The movie came out the same year that Hershey made BEACHES. Midler advocated for Barbara to get an Oscar nod for A World Apart and said that she could not believe that this movie did not receive more attention when it was released. I just saw it again on indieplex and after twenty years, it still shines brillantly.

I agree! I just saw it, and thought she did an excellent job. Also, the girl who played Molly was outstanding.

I'm watching it now and it's honestly quite dragging and boring.
