She broke a leg

Was it really necessary for for her to take off work from breaking a leg, ever heard of crutches?

reply

Katharine was using crutches when she returned back to the office so I assume it takes some weeks for legs to heal enough for you to use the crutches. She also could have used a wheelchair. Either way, it was more of a plot convenience to allow Tess to take advantage of her absence, and branch out into the business.

It depends on the severity of the injury; not all broken legs are the same. A colleague of mine broke his leg and had to work from his parents' home for more than two months. He had to keep the leg up pretty much at all times.

Big time executives really don't need to worry about that. That's what having a staff is for.

Maybe the problem was that the leg that got broken was very badly broken and she needed to stay in bed. Of course, when she gets back, she is still using crutches and in her final scene, a cane. But by then, the leg had healed enough so she could walk around using them as aides.

I haven't broken a leg.....but I've broken one knee cap, and cracked the other one, both at the same time in a car accident, about 35 years ago. Trust me.....you are not going to return to work all smiles and jollies right away! I was in full leg casts for both legs to hold my kneecaps in place while the bones mended back together. Couldn't let any water get in between the casts and my skin, so I had to shower with big black plastic trash bags taped all around the casts and the top of my thighs....while leaning on one of the crutches! I was off work 2 months, and had to use crutches the whole time.

Toward the end of my mending and healing, I wish I had the presence of mind to use a walker to adjust back to walking without crutches instead of still using the crutches even after the casts were off. The adjustment would've been quicker, easier, less painful and more effective. But in my mind....I thought only elderly people used walkers..LOL!

I broke my foot last summer and couldn't fo much with a cast, including walk hardly. I had to elevate my foot a lot because of the pain too. My boss had mercy on me and let me work from home, which was wonderful! So, yes, it's a pain in the ass!
